Zhenya Savina was the photographer selected by Health Insurance company mhplus to shoot their “Adrenaline vor der Haustür” campaign – following the stories of how people found excitement during the limitations enforced related to the Corona virus.

Half a year ago, Russian photographer and videographer, Zhenya Savina, moved to Hamburg, Germany, on an artist visa to realise her dream of growing her creative business in both Germany and beyond. Zhenya first became interested in photography 9 years ago, whilst attending University. Having studied Journalism, photos and videos were a part of creating various reportages.

She quickly found herself very fond of cinematography and the storytelling medium which it provides, eventually finding her own style by watching different movies and studying their visual appeal, the sounds, and the editing.

Zhenya was the photographer chosen for the mhplus project “Adrenalin vor der Haustür” directed at telling the stories from 3 protagonists who found something that really excited them during the limitations enforced through Covid-19.

Set out to find 3 protagonists who’s stories appeared interesting and intriguing, the pre-production stages called her to base a script around each individual story and shoot three 1-minute videos reflecting this. The short films were so far used as an advertising tool on MHplus’ Instagram.

Federico, a wanderer, who was forced to quit his around-the-world-journey and return back to Switzerland. However, with his wanderlust still present, he explored his home-country and found hidden-gems close to his hometown.

From the first call with mhplus to the final delivery, the project spanned a little over a month. The only aspect which proved itself as being difficult was the scheduling, tested between good weather and the availability of the models.

Cherrydeck happened to be a perfect platform for me, it helped me to create my portfolio again, explore the market and connect with clients.

Zhenya credits the contact process through Cherrydeck as being extremely helpful. Having moved to Germany shortly before the pandemic took its toll, she was afraid of not being able to live out her creativity as many jobs had been cancelled and travel restrictions were placed into action. However, with the Cherrydeck weekly updates of companies and their current opportunities Zhenya was provided the chance to overcome the uncertain times.
